Habitat 67, World's Fair 1967

Habitat 67, or simply Habitat, is a model community and housing complex in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, designed by Israeli-Canadian architect Moshe Safdie. It was originally conceived as his master's thesis in architecture at McGill University and then built as a pavilion for Expo 67, the World's Fair held from April to October 1967. Habitat 67 is widely considered an architectural landmark and one of the most recognizable and spectacular buildings in both Montreal and Canada.

The Biosphere, Expo 67 in Montreal

The Biosphere (French: "La Biosphère de Montréal") is a museum dedicated to the environment. It is located at Parc Jean-Drapeau, on Saint Helen's Island in the former pavilion of the United States for the 1967 World Fair, Expo 67 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The museum's geodesic dome was designed by Buckminster Fuller.

The Magic Fountain, International Expo Barcelona 1929

The Magic Fountain was built by Carles Buigas for the International Expo in 1929, on the site where Josep Puig i Cadafalch's Four Columns had stood before being demolished in 1928. They were later rebuilt in 2010, only a few metres from their original location.

When work on the 1929 International Expo was already well under way, the organisers decided it needed "something special" to set it apart. That was when Carles Buigas presented his plans for a "colossal, daring and costly plan", which would later become Montjuïc's Magic Fountain.

In under a year, over 3,000 workers made Buigas' dream come true, bringing light, water and colour to the broad avenue that was to be the Expo's main thoroughfare.

The Spanish pavilion at the Brussels 58 World Expo

The Spanish pavilion at the Brussels 58 World Expo won the prize ahead of "the Atomium". Designed by José Antonio Corrales and Ramón Vázquez Molezún, this building that should be removable, respect the existing trees and save a central hill of about 6 meters, had as its most outstanding element the famous hexagonal umbrellas, about 130 in total.

The Crystal Palace 1851

The Crystal Palace was a cast-iron and plate-glass structure originally built in Hyde Park, London, to house the Great Exhibition of 1851. It was the first in a series of World's Fairs, exhibitions of culture and industry that became popular in the 19th century, and it was a much anticipated event. The Great Exhibition was organized by Henry Cole and Prince Albert, husband of the reigning monarch, Queen Victoria. It was attended by famous people of the time, including Charles Darwin, Samuel Colt, and the writers Charlotte Brontë, Charles Dickens, or Lewis Carroll.
